Generally, the measurement process is as follows:
- Project planning of a configuration with download in all participating stations
- Measuring all measured variables (each measurement is repeated several times)
- Evaluating the measurements
Determining the statistical parameters of position
The transmission time specifies how long it takes to send a data package from the user area (data block) of the sending station, to the user area (data block) of the receiving station.
- Cycle time:
The cycle time is mesasured in the send CPU and in the receiver CPU via the start information of the OB1.
It is defined during the measurement of the transmission of the messages.
To be able to also simulate secure net configurations and their effect on the transmission time, the data messages can alternatively be send via a VPN tunnel (IPSec), consisting of two SCALANCE S. A 20% load from a TCP/IP message generator is fed as netload to the "inscure range".
- Routing load
To be able to measure the influence of an additional TCP/IP communication between the PROFINET and the gigabit interface of the CPx43-1 Adv in the sending station on the transmission time of the data messages, a defined routing load can be fed from a message generator to a load client at the gigabit interface of the CP (routing mode). The load messages consist of a mix between different packet sizes, which corresponds to the sum of a transmission rate of 5 MBit/s (See chap 2.4)
